2019
• 65% landfill diversion recorded, independently verified.

• After years of development, Tarkett open their Carpet Recycling
Centre, which can process loop pile bitumen and Desso EcoBase
backed carpet tiles for closed-loop recycling, becoming the only
carpet manufacturer to supply Aquafil with post-consumer carpet
yarn to regenerate into Econyl.
2020
• New homes flooring contractor demonstrates segregation clean
offcuts for non-woven sector.
• CRUK starts working alongside the Environment Agency
regarding concerns it has with the levels of POPs in carpet waste
streams and successfully appeals for a 12 month transition
process. 17th June 2021 LRWP43 is replaced with RPS248.
• The pandemic sees a surge in carpet sales and enquiries
increase.
2021
• Launch of CRUK best practice guide to help with reuse and
repurposing of more surplus and used commercial flooring.
• CRUK coordinates reuse and recycling of COP26 flooring.
• Growth in use of polyester in carpet fibres.
