Our company is very passionate about apprentices and we
continue to take on apprentices every year – we would take on
more apprentices if there were more places at college. Our
apprentices have won various awards over the years, with one of
the latest ones being David McGrath who won apprentice of the
year in 2020.
It has been an honour for me to represent and promote the CFA,
NSCC ,SCG, Build UK and Build Scotland throughout our
industry, especially attending meetings at government level
both at Westminster and Holyrood.
As a company we believe in the circular economy and all three
directors have been involved in guidance and training for the
last four years. We also recycle everything we can and have

MacGregor Flooring carry out most types of flooring and
preparation works employing between 40 and 51 people
including both tradesmen and staff with an annual turnover
ranging between £5.3 and £6.4 million.
I was the President of the Contract Flooring Association from
2004-06 and then again in 2020-22 and have served as a
director of the CFA since May 1999.
I am also a member of the CFA Scottish committee. I started
attending council meetings of the National Specialist
Contractors Council, on behalf of the CFA and then went on to
become president of the NSCC .
I was a director of the NSCC from 2006-16, honorary treasurer
of the NSCC, chair of the Scottish NSCC committee and
represented the CFA at NSCC council meetings. The NSCC and
UK Contractors Group merged to form the Build UK in
September 2015.
After this I became the vice chairman of the Scottish
Contractors Group and was appointed a director of the SCG in
November 2015 which is affiliated with Build UK .
On 10 March 2017 until present day I was appointed as chairman
of The Scottish Contractors Group taking over from Ken
Gillespie (it is now called Build Scotland).
MacGregor Flooring Company has three directors: myself, Kenny
Smith my managing director and my son Crawford who is
contracts director. His wife, Laura, is our business manager. We
have a contracts manager, Kyle Smart, Jim Hart is our contracts
